Road courses project

This one will fit nicely into IIRS Wink2

As is common in my line of work we need to create a backlog for Pavel Tongue

LOL

Just kidding!

But with Pavel and Wolf_pd active in the editing business I am sure I will enjoy 2011!

I mean, we have Mid Ohio old and new coming, Homestead Roadcourse and Barber Motorsports Park underway and Trenton 1 mile and Seattle in progress. What can we ask more for? Guys, that last remark is rhetoric!!! Grin

Hi,
Here is third part of my project - Mid Ohio. As with Elkhart Lake if you want to see difference from original papy version, try to make some laps there and then on this new track. It's like driving two different tracks.

Installation:
There are two layouts . First is Mid Ohio 1990 - present. It is in two-part archive and it is replacement for original track. There is MidOhio.bat file to switch between two graphic versions: 1990 -1996 and 1997 -present.

Second layout is original Mid Ohio before 1990 modifications. This track was narrow and had chicane. I based my track on 1984 Indycar race.

Bugs:
I didn't test AI too much, but it works good I think. In 84 version AI cars don't have much overtakes.
Concrete/asphalt patches don't draw very well .

Length of the full track with chicane:
Original track was 2.4 miles long acording to all documents. I 1990 new Indycar track was 2,25 miles long. In 1997 Indycars layout was remesured, result 2,258 miles. I based my track on this last remesurments. At first I had made 1995 layout and then I had added chicane. But this layout with chicane had became only 2.27 miles long, not 2.4 miles. So I think old track length data is wrong. Same story as with Cleveland.

Have good races!

Just had a few testruns. Very nice tracks indeed. Comparing the chicaned and non-chicaned version. You mentioned you were thinking about whether you should do the chicane in the non-chicane and vice versa. I don't miss those areas in these tracks. Adding them wouldn't have improved the tracks, so a right decision.

Btw, Iirsdirector, make sure to update your 'Which tracks to use' threads!! Grin

Hi drivers,
What is your time at Mid Ohio? Maybe AI are too slow for you because I was not fast when created it.

Thanks again for the great work Pavel!!!
As for my time... I guess I am a bit slow for now. I can't get down the 11 seconds after the minute (1' 11" 162). But I think I can improve a lot soon (this track has a lot of tricky parts that someone must master to achieve a decent lap time).

Thank you so much for another wonderful remake of an original track.

And it is great you've supplied another 80s version with it.
