I'm back again!

Hey Everybody! I'm off for the semester for winter break, which means more time on my hands! Smiley

I've come back to try to fix the motegi problem I've been having. (I'm not giving up!)

In case anyone doesn't know what I'm talking about, this happens on Pavel's version of the Twin Ring Motegi Oval. My game crashes and has to close when I'm on turn 3 nearing the back straight. It happens in both DOS and Windy.

*It happens a lot less often in the DOS version than when I use Windy(it won't even get past the first lap in windy)

*It happens only when object textures are turned on.

Any time I turn them off, it works great in both DOS and Windy. One of my experiments included parking my car in the middle of turns one and two when the problem happens. I move the car back and forth on that spot a little bit, and to the best of my memory, it seems to crash when it tries to load the textures of the background objects. The first thing I probably would like to try is to remove certain textures out of the DAT file (for example, the audience in the grandstands) and try to run the track without them. I might be able to narrow the problem down to one or more certain textures. How could I do this?

Do you guys have any ideas or advice about what could be going on here? Thanks!

P.S. I've always noticed this site uses orange as its main color. Tjerk, would you being Dutch have anything to do with this Smiley

Orange is the main racing color of The Netherlands so I've heard.

Well orange is the main color for the Netherlands as a whole basically, although that was not really a factor in opting to use that as the main color for the site Smiley I just wanted a lively look to the place so I chose orange. Our royal family is called Huis van Oranje [House of Orange]. Our national football team [soccer] is just called 'Oranje' by the dutch themselves which leads to people dressing up like this for any big tournament or qualifying game:

Which is quite embarrassing actually Smiley And yeah the A1GP team also has an orange car ;]

About the textures, when you remove them from a track but keep the objects that call to them in it then the track won't load. But if you take out that object too then it won't load either, because the <track>.3do still calls to this object. You could try taking a very simple object from another track, along with any texture it uses and use this to replace other objects that you suspect could be the problem. Remove the old one and copy the new one in, rename it to the old object's name. Do this one by one keeping track of which object you replaced most recently. As soon as your game stops crashing, this is probably the object that was causing the trouble. Now take a fresh version of the track and only replace this object. Just some tips from the top of my head Smiley Hope it helps and hope you enjoy your break.

Even worse, next to dressing up people go to all lengths to show their support, which leads to streets ending up like this.
