Have we lost interest?

hi guys!
it passed long times from my lost login here... real life taked my much time and energy and I cannot continue my works on painting carsets... that's also much time I didn't play with icr2 for more than 20minutes

for now I can't say if I'll work againg on icr2 stuff in the future, but I hope to find time for do something

for the indy07 carset posted by indyracer56 it had cars from firsts 2007races, but not all the cars from 2007 indy500...

dosemu didn't emulate (or didn't do well) the pc speaker and didn't emulate adlib soundcards

try to install dosbox and run indy500 with /a option (or the start.bat file posted by indyracer56), for me indy500 with dosbox worked very well

for N1 and ICR2 dosemu is the better choice

Hey! Haven't been into ICR2 much since last year. I did run a race a few days ago at Nazareth with my 2002 IRL carset. Unfortunately, I made a mistake on the first lap that caused my to finish last. Sad

Anyways, I've had custom 2003-2005 IRL carsets that I felt like using on ICR2 but the Motegi problem has kept me away. It seems to me its just like the problems people have had here: http://icr2.net/forum/showthread.php?tid=112

and here:

So I've gotten into GTR2 and its been fun! A lot of full season carsets and tracks to use from the ALMS and FIA GT.

I'm hoping someone can perhaps remake this this track with MUCH lower texture resolution and perhaps reduce the size of the DAT file. Maybe remove some unnecessary textures to help it run better. I cannot do this as this is beyond my skill level as far as working with ICR2 is concerned.

If anyone is looking for a modern sim with some great open wheel mods, you should check out rFactor.

There are IndyCar, F1 and several CART/ChampCar mods available, and lots of tracks too.

There is even a ChampCar mod for the 2007 season, using the DP01 car!

I have tried running the good old ICR2/CART Racing game again recently, but after playing newer sims, I just don't have the interest to put up with the poor AI at so many of the converted tracks.

Plus the game is really unstable in Windows Vista. Sad

Once you get the AI to match your speeds ICR2 is still a very enjoyable sim.

I have been using LPEDIT on a frequent basis lately. A few edits here and there, it is really not that hard.

For example, Pavel's driving style is so different than mine (he is just faster than me). Therefor I have been tweaking the acceleration and braking points to match my style.

I have been racing the 1994 and 2006 mods in Rfactor mainly in testing mode. They look great and have better graphics. However, from a competition point of view (pace laps, race control, etc) i still prefer old ICR2.

I have been working behind the scenes, only problem that I broke both wrists a month ago which has hindered me. It didn't stop me running the Indianapolis 500 for IIRS though....

If anybody has been able to get the AI to exhibit even the hint of a clue in rFactor, please let me know. I prefer to do my racing offline and Rfactor is simply not a viable choice. Having the AI simply run over me (and itself) makes the "sim" unplayable. It's a shame because the number of mods and possiblities for rFactor are staggering. Even with it's "dated" graphics and limited track selection, ICR2/CART Racing is still the best choice for racing on highspeed ovals in Indy/Champ cars offline IMHO.

The AI experience in rFactor seems to be very much dependent on what tracks you are using.

I have had the best luck running the tracks I found at The Pits.

But I do have to agree that overall, it's no ICR2.

I think that my biggest problem with ICR2 is that the Windows version that I use gives me a lot of problems in Vista.
