3doEd crashes on some tracks
#1
I have been busy lately making track shots in 3doEd for all the tracks that are in the Archive right now. Unfortunately, some tracks crash 3doEd. I have tested it up to version 1.5 of 3doEd, the most recent version I could find a download for. Some examples include the N3 converted Daytona Roadcourse, Phakisa Freeway and North Wilkesboro Speedway converted from N2.

Does anyone know why this crash occurs? I feel like it is because of some objects included but I am not 100% sure. I could start a hunt myself but if this information is known by someone out there, it would definitely help :-)

Wow- I've never had this happen. I can load the full Denver with all her TSOs on, textures turned on without crashing my EDOed no problem.

The 2002-2006 track? I wonder, is there a 1990-1991 Denver track for this game?

Thanks for your thoughts. I can load that track fine as well.

I think it may have something to do with some of the TSO .3do's that 3doEd fails to load properly. When the dialog to load a specific .3do comes up and I select the main <track>.3do, it crashes.

The latest version I have of 3doEd is 1.5s. If someone has a later version available, please feel free to attach it to this topic. Maybe it is some bug that mister Noonan fixed at some point.

Could you maybe try North Wilkesboro yourself in your own version of 3doEd? This is the direct link. Thanks!

Converted tracks from N3 and N99 cause CTD in 3doEd is known problem. It happens because some N3 3do objects actually contain two or more sub-objects inside. And main object loads other sub-objects throug DYNAMIC function like external objects. This works in N3. But for ICR2 converter extracts this sub-objects, makes them as standalone objects with names 00000001, 00000002, 00000003 and so on. But as result main objects still contain inside all data left from sub-objects and this stanalone objects sometime contain data fom other subobjects. This cuse problems for 3doEd.
To load such track in 3doEd you have to remove all 000000xx.3do files from it and try to load track without this 3do's.

Thank you Pavel!

Edit: this works perfectly. Making those track shotsjust became a little easier :-)

I also added Denver 91 to the Archive.
