Rendition 3D Kits
#1
Does anybody have these additional Rendition 3d kits downloaded and saved anywhere by chance?

Alison Hine never made kits for these tracks as she noted as follows:
Also, I have not created new kits for Australia, Nazareth, Milwaukee and Loudon.

It looks like someone at The Sim Project made those kits (and some others) and posted them in November of 1997.
I would soooo love to finally have these files after so many years.

Still no luck with this search for the missing Sim Project Rendition kits.
Does anyone know if David Mocnay is a part of this community?

I emailed Alison Hine and received a response today from her brother Nate that she passed away. That is very sad. She was so helpful with ICR2 & GPL.
May she rest in peace.

Yeah this is very sad- but its easy to lose track that when you are into a game that is 30 years old, the community will get older as well. At least we were able to know with certainty that Alison passed. With nooRok, I fear he may have passed but we may never know. I guess I don't understand how someone could build a tool so important for the community and then seemingly dissappear forever from it. This is why we must stay tight-knit.

The community has changed so much over the years. It is inevitable that people will have passed away already that were pivotal in its growth at some point. On the other hand, people can just as eaily just lose interest and vanish without any trace. One can always hope that this is the case for nooRok.

Scouring the forum for downloads I am constantly reminded of kind, helpful and talented people like Dave Reuille (WoofGM) and Kalmekgc182 who have been taken from their loved ones far too early.

Alison's passing I knew of, although I do not really know where I heard about it. Probably here. She meant a lot for the ICR2 community and especially for the GPL community.

As far as these rendition kits go, I applaud your tenacity to get a hold of them. I do not really know how to be of assistance unfortunately.

(Saving info on this post)

I am still shocked no one has these but I am not giving up the search.

RaceSimCentral is trying to help me/us locate the Rendition files.

I reached out to Foxman and he provided me with these files, among a bigger collection of ICR2-related files that I just messaged Tjerk about.

I tested the Australia one and it appears to be a version that adds clouds for the Rendition version, but I have not tested anything else.

That is so awesome. I think you just made zerocool a very happy camper, as well as other rendition and RReady users of course.

I have not given any attention in the archive yet but it is definitely on my radar. I think I should probably change it so that every track is a single entry and then simply list DOS / Windows / Rendition downloads if any available. But I would love to hear different thoughts on this.

That sounds like a good approach. I believe, to differentiate between DOS and Windows, it would just be examining whether the track uses the colors 246-254 or not and if the Windy menu image is present. Maybe some modders were good about ignoring those Windy colors when they made their palettes, even if they didn't explicitly say that their tracks are Windy-friendly. Rendition tracks would definitely need to be identified, if they use .mi4 or .m16 files that probably wouldn't even load in DOS/Windy.

Thank you to everyone who helped with this!

I got the tracks updated. Ultimately there are not huge differences. Looks like it just updates the tarmac and horizon. Pavel (and many others) have definitely shown us the way with their skills, by comparison.
Either way, it is very nice to finally have all of the stock tracks updated!

I have attached them to this post. I cleaned them up a bit and renamed them accordingly to HQ.
They can reside in your game along with the stock tracks if you so desire.

*Edit* I updated the track names as they were too long and did not work in Championship Mode. Rookie mistake.
