So I raced in an Oracle Red Bull race simulator last month

Not ICR2 related, but it is race related nonetheless.

Last month my IT team was invited to Oracle and race in the sim race rig they have there. Being the only guy in the team who on occasion fires up a race game (rFactor and rFactor2) they expected me to spank the opposition. Well......, I didn't.
I was third of 11, behind one person whose favorite car was the Mercedes CLK LM in Gran Turismo in 2nd and one guy, the fastest, who (in his own words) had no idea how he did it.
Which he then showed when we were discussing his fastest lap and I mentioned I saw him brake slightly behind  the 100 metre mark, while I braked at the 100 metre mark. His surprised respons, I didn't see any 100 metre markers. I didn't even see the stands outside the track.
Yep, I got beaten by a guy who did not have the periferal view to see the rest of the track because his eyes weren't used to the speed of the game.

  End
But apart from that it was fun. The rig was set up with just 30% force feedback which you can really feel. I don't want to try out 100%. The seat and pedals were adjustable so people of all heights could race and the racing tub was an actual racing tub which was taken from a Formula Renault that had been wrecked. Everything was painted in official Red Bull colours as well, although they admitted the darkblue colour would be slightly off as the colour is copyrighted so you can't walk into a paint store and get the exact colour.

Photos to follow if I get permission from the other people to post them. That could also mean my face reveal Xmas
Oracle has given permission to post them btw. It's just for my colleagues if I can show it or not.

Still a podium, congrats!

My best "real life competition" result was at a company go-karting event where I qualified 5th out of about 60 participants. Then I was running first in my heat race before getting a stop-and-go penalty for ignoring a caution flag or light. I think I would've faded anyway because I started losing my arm strength and had trouble steering the kart by the end of the race.
