High quality carsets lag too much

When I use accelerated time, I press alt f12 and use turbo speed. It seems that for GP2, you cannot speed up the game. It just slows down.

GP2 and ICR2 have completely different methods of handling time. In ICR2, time is absolute (tied to system time). In GP2, time actually slows down if the processor gets overworked.

GP2 also has a time stretch "feature" coded into the "magic data" for each track. This is a fudge factor that was created to make lap times more realistic.

Generally speaking, I like the ICR2 approach to time much more than the GP2 approach.

If you want to learn more about GP2 I suggest heading over to grandprix2.de.

Check also your DOSBox settings "priority" and "memsize".
When I use Dosbox, I turn off the internet. I just press a button and the Internet turns off. I do use the config files and edit them every now and again, but I still don't get the highest frames. I think I should just switch to Windows or something else because no matter what I do to speed up the game, high quality carsets just keep lagging my game...

When i try this is says fast forward is turned on then fast forward turned off. there must be a setting somewhere i need to change for that to stay on

I had the same problem. You have to press and hold alt f12. If you just press it, it will turn off right away.

Have you tried it? Make sure that you press and hold alt f12 at the same time. I only use it for when I am out of a race and in accelerated time in ICR2, and NASCAR Racing 2. I don't want to talk about GP2 here, but you simply cannot speed up GP2 using fast forward. That is, if you are using Dosbox.

This weekend, I got a lot done in Dosbox, and I even did the 1988 cart season. I want to do the 2006 season using Blackcat's carset. I might have to use the edited car shape, because the high quality carset is lagging. I used the 2019 carset, but that one runs fine. When I finish the 1988 season, I'm going straight to the 2006 season. I tried to download ECE 32 bit, but I couldn't find it on the Internet. Does anyone have a link or suggestion? Maybe how to make DosBox faster? Thanks...

If you installed ECE via the EXE executable in windows then you are already running the 32 bit version.

I did install it then, and I am using it now. However, my game still lags even when I change setting in the Dos config files. There is one carset that my friend made, and it is extremely laggy. My game goes from 30 fps to 2 fps, and when he plays it on his computer, the game runs perfectly fine. (He is using Dosbox ECE as well..)
