High quality carsets lag too much
#1
I want to run the very high quality carsets on Dosbox ECE, but every time I use the cars, the game lags too much. I try to change the settings in Dosbox, opening and closing Dosbox, and the config files over and over again, wasting too much time. Does anyone know how to use high quality cars without the game lagging? Thanks, SimRacer134 (John)

You're running 32bit dosbox ECE right? If yes, you will be getting the fasted running dosbox you can get.

Make sure cycles is set to Max in the config file.

Fancy carsets have more polygons, so they take more resources. How fast is your PC?

I see. I am not using 32 bit ECE, and I read online that depending on your computers' CPU speed determines how fast DosBox can go. My computer is at least 9 years old, and it's not too fast, but not too slow. Mid speed.

Switching to 32bit dosbox for me wasl like going from a slow Ford Mustang to a Turbocharged Mitsubishi Evo. No comparison. Way less resource intensive.

The cycles are on Max. I am supposed to get a Windows PC so I can hook up my wheel and pedals and start streaming live on YouTube. NASCAR 1 cars and modded tracks work fine, but not ICR2.

I just don't know if my PC can handle the cars, because if a huge accident occurs when in accelerated time and using high qualiy carset, the game crashes. I'm thinking about using the beat up VGA graphics or switching to Windows. I guess you can't make Dos go over 30 frames, no?

Is your computer connected to the internet? If yes, try to disconnect it, and switch off all unnecessary things, like virus scanner, messenger apps, etc.
Check also your DOSBox settings "priority" and "memsize".

Where do I find a 32 bit DosBox ECE? I don't see it on this page (there only seem to be Windows, Linux and source versions): https://yesterplay.net/dosboxece/

With "cycles" on any version of Dosbox i use all i can get is 100% (default) or 105% (which is max i can get) Is there a way to get # of cycles like u can for GP2 so accelerate time for a full 100% distance race is quicker than 10mins to complete?

The windows version is 32bit. Linux versions can be compiled for 64 or 32.

Before I was using 32bit I was using the standard "74.3" version that is popular... although it was 64bit.
