How to import sound to ICR2
#1
It's me again, always posting. More to come... Anyways, I was just wondering how to import modded engine sound into game. Whenever I do it, it says unable to load sound.

Help?  - Thanks, SimRacer134

Most likely a files missing, misnamed or in the incorrect format.
You'll have to be more specific

Well, I extract the folder, and then, I copy the files into the SOUND folder. When I play the
game, either it's the same default sound, or if I delete Sound.dat, it says unable to load sound.

Papy games use *.dat files. You can think of it like archives (ZIP, RAR, 7z or others). Game read files inside dat files first then, if didn't find needed file, looks for it in folder where dat-archive is located.

So to try new sound files there three ways:
1) You extract all files from SOUND.DAT into SOUND folder, remove SOUND.DAT and then replace one of the files with new one.
2) You can add new file to the SOUND.DAT (you need to replce file inside DAT).
3) You can remove engine follloop.raw from SOUND.DAT and then add new follloop.raw just into SOUND folder.

To manage DAT files you can use DooDat tool. Or you can open and pack them with WinMip.

I didn't get a lot done with DosBox today, but thanks for the suggestion. I will try again next week.
