For me it's Windows 7 64bit running Windy in native Operating system and using dosbox ECE to run dos version. Best of both worlds!!

This is fantastic! I had never played this version before & it's a much better layout & accelerated time seems to be a little quicker with full distance races.. The only issue is with full screen i get bright colors etc but the intro is fine. Could be an issue with the settings

Have been playing this version, tried simulating a season with the original carset/tracks & in 5 races it's crashed twice "windows is searching for the problem" window comes up & rarely gives the point for most laps led. Also when i try to drive the screen is all fluro colors (it won't let me take a screenshot). Is anyone else having these issues?

What length of races are you running? I've heard Windy can be unstable with occassional crashes for long races. I only run 10-20% length races and have never had a problem. Have also run many seasons on Windy without issue but only at 10% race length

Try to use any Directdraw wrappers. There are many out there. You can try dgVoodo for example. I'm using Aqrit's ddwrapper. I have two versions and using older one from 2012. Below is archives of both of them. To install it you need to place ddraw.dll and aqrit.cfg files into game folder. Cfg file is use  for some wrapper settings, you can edit it with text editor. In 2012 archive there is my actual cfg file I'm using.

BTW dgVoodoo has more options to play with. It has more options to scale up ICR2 image for modern monitors. But I have some problems with dgVoodoo when after playing game for about 2 minutes FPS drop for some reason. It looks like some video buffer is overloaded after 2 minutes.
