The base resolution for widescreen is 1600x1200 internally. So, x8 is 1600*8x1200*8, which might be a little too high. 2 will probably work. You could try unchecking super-resolution as well (though I haven't tested that mode in 3-4 days).

I think it's too much work for the GPU, which causes timing delays between Dosbox-R and RReady.

Reducing SuperResolution to 1 or unchecking the box didn't work - it still crashed at the same place. Let me try again in a few days when I have a better graphics card.

Are you running the patched iCR2 with the 20260605.002 build of Dosbox-Rendition. It just might be the wrong version of dosbox running. You could run Dosbox-R (not staging as it doesn't work at the mo.) directly from the unzipped folder once the ICR2 has been patched. The patched game binary must have the same name as the original game (indycar.exe or cart.exe).

Ah! I missed the part about Dosbox Staging being incompatible. I ran it in Dosbox and got it to work, at least not crash. When driving, the graphics are messed up but looks okay in replay.

EDIT: When I turned off Super Resolution it works!!

UPDATE: This is my view when I turned off Super Resolution!!

Dosbox-staging will be updated once I've got everything working with regular dosbox.

I'm glad you got it working. I think the render to texture load is too high for integrated graphics.

The dashboard has shrunk a bit, in the latest internal build. I'll post a video just as soon as I get 21:9 and 32:9 working.

ICR2 widescreen 21:9 now working and 16:9 cockpit view has changed:

https://youtu.be/2uN8J1d7cvw

- The cockpit is working at 21:9, 32:9 and has been revised for 16:9.
- Dosbox-staging-Rendition should run with displaced sprites with the patched ICR2. This error will be fixed in another test build.
- The exterior of the car while driving won't change colour to match the current car. This will be fixed in a later build.

Dosbox-Rendition is the preferred version of dosbox, at least for the moment.

The cockpit view is almost done for 32:9, 21:9. It needs a bit of tweaking for 16:9 and 16:10. The cockpit view no longer disappears at the end of a lap. It can show up during a race when switching to an external view, but that can be fixed.

The mirrors seem to have the wrong aspect ratio. That's next on my list.

Do the cockpit exterior colours come from the sunny.pcx in the carset or from somewhere else?

Ind95.pcx was mentioned earlier, but some carsets don't actually have that, though I could be wrong.

The cockpit color is determined by byte 50 of "ind95.3do" in the selected carset's .dat

It uses the colors 35 - 175 from the general game palette:

I just watched your latest test:
Youtube: https://youtu.be/LTtDS2SbNhU

This is looking very close now, however I believe the view is still stretched horizontally (the cars/track look wider than they should be) and also the view is still slightly pitched up. But it is getting much closer to the original perspective!

Thanks! I can squish the view horizontally. The vertical view is what I'm struggling with. If the horizontal view gets too wide, bits of the bottom end up being cropped, but not the top. I really need to find a camera relative offset.

How about this?
