Reason i think it may be possible is the games use similar .txt files for the tracks.
The track .txt files are just data points. Nothing in them is going to change how the game works.

My assumption comes from the fact u can change a lot within those files, incl # of cars per row at the start, tyre brand performance for each track (tho i am not sure which is the best/most accurate value to change which does it) as well as aero kit for each track. I could be wrong however, was just curious if anyone knew how to do it.

However unlikely, I can see a possibility of features like opening/closing pits if it existed in Nascar 1 and some of that code made it into the ICR2 engine and could be activated by a value in the track.txt.

I think that sach setting if it exist should be activated in gameopts.cfg file...

But then how would you change it? I could be wrong, but you can't just change the .exe file. Again, I could be wrong, but that's what I think.
Doing the 1988 cart season in ICR2!!!
