I was thinking that looping the pit around would require me to open up the radius on the last corner, and I don't want to make that corner faster than it's supposed to be. I can always go back to the old methods if it is not possible to create good AI.

Pavel, I see why it might be better to have the centerline follow the pit lane.
Edit: Right after I posted the above, I realized that I could use PIT2 to break up the pit lane into two segments. Here is the result:

Nice fix. Also, wow that track is bumpy. In terms of the quick twists and turns, it reminds me a bit of the Champcar Denver track.

Still can't believe I can actually fit two ICR2 lanes beneath the bridge. In the distance you can see the Exxon sign, the significance of that is that I placed it by converting latitude and longitude to the ICR2 coordinates.

do you think that any of this will allow us to make a tighter long beach hair pin?

Just wanted to do something besides pulling my hair out experimenting with 3D files.

I tested the layout for AI creation.
In the chicane I've got the error as expected. But there is another problem area, after the left corner after the bridge, where the track gets narrow. The error there looks different, so I'm not sure about the problem there. Maybe the track width? I attached the according screenshots from that places in the replay and in the text file.

The narrow part has a straight centerline way off to the right, and the drivable track is at various distances relative to the centerline, to make the uphill chicane. This was done to make it possible to have the drivable sections close together without teleporting from one section to another.
I am not so familiar with AI creation. What do the numbers mean? Are you not even able to generate LP files at all? Or you can but the AI will behave erratically? |
