I would like to be able to make first gear even shorter, say 12.5 or 13.0.

I just tried to increase the gear ratio limit, with no real success. What seems to happen is that the gear ratio, say 11.3, gets converted into a number that actually translates into the engine performance. That number, unfortunately, is already very close to the highest possible (which is 65535) when you set it to the max gear ratio, with high value being faster acceleration, low value being the opposite.

There are some other things that the Cheat Engine lets me look into, but it seems like I would need knowledge of assembly language which is quite a bit beyond me, although the prospect of modding ICR2 is a big motivator to learn...

interesting... my motivation for changing the gear ratio limit has to do with trying to make the car get more "squirly" under first gear acceleration out of corners. You can tell by watching the in-car video in racing many drivers use 2nd and 3rd gear in your "typical" 60mph street circuit corners. In ICR2 it is easy to use 1st gear in these corners but if you watch the races on TV I think you can see it is easier to exit them in 2nd gear (some drivers use 3rd).

A perfect example of this would be turn 1 in either long beach or toronto (I'm talking about the original tracks)

I would also like to be able to figure out how it determines how many laps of yellow to have when there is a crash. It would be nice to lower this a little.

Laps of yellow might not be too difficult to discover, but maybe time-consuming. The way to do it is probably to look for a counter that represents the number of laps under yellow so far. Then you just wait for it to change after every lap under yellow.

By the way, I have also figured out how to increase the fuel capacity. So if you wanted to race with 60 gallons of fuel... you could. Also if you want a slight performance boost, you can use Cheat Engine to lock your fuel at, say, 0.3 gallons and enjoy driving with lighter weight.

I see what you are saying about the fuel- but I race with the "pre-1996" style tank at 40 gallons. I'm after more realism than just cheating to go faster. I enjoy the prospects of changing things in the EXE to make it more realistic but not so much just to win.

At some point I realized that Sim racing (ICR2 and Grand prix 2 for me) is more about enjoying the race and not making mistakes, than just winning. Some of my most enjoyable races were ones that I finished in the middle of the pack but it was good racing and me driving without making mistakes. Those are the ones I remember. Not the races where I accidentally set the difficulty to low and I was able to finish up front even know I spun out and ran into other cars.

I just ran a 300 mile race at the Charlotte oval and I finished the whole thing (100% length) without causing yellows or hitting other cars. It was intense. I remember trying to stay on the lead lap, and really struggling with traffic just like you would see in real life. I actually made my own LPs for this track so it was nice being able to correct some of the poor AI behavior that was present when the track was converted.

I doubt it would ever make sense to use Cheat Engine if your primary objective is to win - it's easier just to turn down the difficulty settings ;-)

Ultimately, if we can find enough parameters to change so that we can properly simulate many different seasons (with all the different power, boost, grip, etc.) I think that would make the game pretty awesome and best use of Cheat Engine for most of us.

I'm trying to find a way to change the scoring system, if someone finds out first, I ask them to share.
