So looking to get back into editing

So looking to get back into editing
After getting a few games work well with Dosbox I am trying out the editing tools in Dosbox as well.

Also looking up the GPL tricks I used to create tracks.

Current tracks I am looking into:
- Boxberg Proving Ground, Oval, 1,87 miles with high banking. This is a real track used by Bosch
- DAF Proving Ground, Oval, 1,24 miles with yet unknown banking. This is a real track used by DAF trucks. Have requested the information at the company, since I know a few people there
- A yet to be named roadcourse consisting of parts while driving to work. Fictional track which is still in design

Will I deliver you tracks soon? I fear not, because first I need to get things working, but at least my interest in editing is back.

I've got a couple of those rattling around in my mind too. Some really good roads here on the edge of the Appalachians.

It is kinda funny looking at the map and then being surprised about simple those roads look, but speed and elevation make them completely different from that simple line on the map.

On a sidenote, when looking info on the DAF oval, thinking it would be the largest oval in Holland, it turns out there is an even bigger one of 1,77 miles...!

The DAF oval might turn out being too tigh (just 5 metres wide in the turns...., so the other oval which is similar in width to, say, Dover, might be the way to go. It's just that I used to work at DAF (part of Paccar for you Americans), which made me look it up.

Rio, ah yes... I digged into those files today.
There used to be a screenshot with objects at SEN which probably would have had you screaming at your screen Wink2

Oh wait, here it is Tongue

The screenshot was something I build either based on the N2003 Rio Oval or even using N2003 objects (yes, you read that right...). I actually think it is the latter.
I also managed to get some rFactor objects converted and working in N3 (yes, again, you read that right).

But this is all from 2011 and 2012 and since 2013 some things have been different for me.

I won't go into detail, but it means it will take me time to get myself reacquainted with the tools. That's why I start building those ovals and roadcourse in sge/sfe. If I get handy with that again, it gives me a base to build up my lost knowledge.

DO WANT!

We have tracks like this built they just need objects... I want to learn myself but I planned on trying to add objects to the STIGs tracks (tamiami, denver 90-91, detroit downtown 89-91, etc)

I've never played rfactor, and I don't know anything about it.

I'd love to see all these tracks completed! Rio is looking great! Wish I could offer help but I have no time these days!

I played rFactor for a while - there is a '95 CART mod and plenty of track mods so you could replicate the season at a much higher level of realism than ICR2. But somehow it never really clicked with me and I still prefer playing ICR2.

If anyone (reading this thread) can do a N3 > ICR2 convert, just say so
