Another batch of carsets using the cart2k shape painted with indycar series liveries.

2 carsets are included in the download:
_
  • u18_indy: The 33 cars that raced in this year's Indianapolis 500, shown in their race-day liveries. Indy 500 tire graphics. Player car + 38 opponent cars.
  • u18_june: As downloaded, some cars are shown in liveries from other races and practice sessions. Player car + 31 opponent cars. The alternate livery folder is in this subdirectory.

PM me if you want a custom livery for the player car.

Enjoy!

Hey guys, newbie here. I am trying Dave's cars, but when I choose "carsets" in ICR2 and select his carset, it says can't initialize car information. Are you having this problem ? The last carset I was using was icr2_2000TS. Do I need to change something in the game ? Thanks for any help.

hey Nelson,

thanks for downloading the carsets. I'll try and do some troubleshooting...
  • What operating system are you using?
  • Are you using the DOS version or the Windows version of ICR2/CART racing?
  • Which decompression utility (WinRAR/WinZip/7-Zip) are you using to unpack the "CARS2018.rar" file?
  • what are the filesizes of the "u18_indy.dat" and "u18_june.dat" files on your computer?

Thanks Dave. Sorry for the hassle. ehh, Win7 OS. I use "Windy.exe". I used 7-Zip on the files.
u18_june.dat = 2,354 KB
u18_indy.dat = 2,359 KB

Also, my Windy.exe is the original from years ago. I have not made any modifications to it. I think I read where I need a patch to use 40 cars. I'm not worried about using 40 cars. 32 is enough.

I too am unable to get Bob's carset manager to re-order carsets that use the cart2k carshape.

To re-order the carsets, I've had to:
  • unpack the carset.dat with winmip
  • edit the order of the cars in the CARS.3do file using a hex editor
  • pack the carset files using winwip, move the updated carset.dat file to the proper carset folder
  • manually update the drivers.txt file in notepad to match the re-ordered cars.

You can just PM me the order you want to see the cars and I can whip up a custom carset in a few minutes...

Sounds like a hassle lol, i have been able to do it with the '01 etc carsets that use that carshape...

I have edited the 90-01 carsets Drivers.txt files i have & am currently testing them before i post them all on here, i have ordered the cars in Championship order for cars that have done all races then in order of races done etc but may yet just put them all in Ch/ship order & be done with it. I had a go at trying to put Rossi's yellow/blue car in the june carset which has a red/blue car but not been able to do it.

P.S a full season '18 carset would be swell, i have edited the Drivers2.txt for that carset.

for 90-01 & also '18 carsets i have used the following formula = as i had found that power seems to set the default grid & grip seems to alter the race i have used 800 as the top power which all Drivers who set a pole position in that particular season & 600 as the top grip which is for those who won a race, for a driver that had a best of 2nd is a 10pt deficit i.e 790 & 590 for the top values, for the bottom value i have used thier ave position, so an ave grid of 6.3 is a value of 737 & 15th is 650 for the grid as an example. during testing which i have almost completed (tested all for 100% race distance & am currently testing 10% also for balance) & i have found that all title contenders are in the running for the title in the respective seasons, the only exception has been if one of those drivers have a few DNF's which i am not sure how to edit that as it seems random (even tho in seasons some cars have more than others). The Champions tend to win it via constancy as opposed to winning 10+ races etc which is very much how it was in the real seasons.
I'll PM you the '18 Drivers2.txt as it is your carset & see what you reckon.
