papyrus long beach txt "longbch.txt" has a bug from papyrus
#1
I found a bug in the longbch.txt file from papyrus. It took me a bit but I figured this out myself.

Symptom: The cars come out of the pits, and as soon as they cross the start finish line (in the pits) they slam to the left and actually go throught part of the pit wall. They then bounce off the pit wall the entire way down the pits until they exit.

Cause: This is due to an extra space in the TXT file where it should not be. I verified it did not get into my file by accident some how because I kept a backup copy of the entire ICR2 game after installing the 1.02 patch on a virgin install.

Here is the extra space. You can see it below. Delete the extra space, and the cars will exit fine.

My file is different. I have "55002796 -427671" without extra space and the number before is different.

Indeed, I'm running 1.02 and I have the extra space. Seems like this is a bug introduced by the patch himself. Grin3

PS: Rep + for you

The patch would not have changed the text files. It's more likely some people got their game as a download from somewhere where errors crept in.

My first ICR2 in the 90s was also a strange one (it's still on my old PC, but I don't know, if that PC would start). It couldn't load Long Beach and Nazareth. 3 other tracks made the game crash. Cleveland at turn 3, Laguna Seca at corkscrew, and Detroit at random places. I could run Detroit only without objects. I had only 80mph pit limit at Michigan, at the other tracks the speed limit was 55mph. But if I was too fast, I couldn't serve the penalty stop, I've got always a regular pitstop, so I've got disqualified everytime.

I don't know the real reason, mate. Anyway this was a nice bug hunting by samsepi0l. Smiley

Guys- I know our crew who plays ICR2 is pretty thin, but I just didn't want (any of) you to have to scratch your head for a few hours trying to figure this out like I did. That's all.
