checkpoint10, do you plan adding the bridge on the backstretch?

Yes. For sure I will add that bridge.

Also I know it's missing a couple more bridges at the beginning of the back straightaway and after T4. And the garage buildings. I will get those into a future version.

I've just tried the track and I like it much more than Caesars Palace. I think, I've got a much better setup here. It was challenging with so low downforce, because I could make only small steps optimizing the setup. At the end I made some laps with low fuel. At the moment I don't know, if I need a qualifying setup.

Oh boy- I knew you'd be faster than me- you always are Dennis!

Can you share your track setup? I'd like to try it. Can you also share your thoughts and reasoning on the setup? It will be important for me to do a competitive lap here when I make LPs... What did you think of the LPs on Caesars?

Maybe I'm faster on one lap, but I'm sure, you would beat me in every race.
The most important in a setup is drivability, because I drive with keyboard, I need to fit it much more to my driving style, because I can't make corrections while driving, as with a steering wheel.
Especially for Rio, I use very low downforce, because I would need downforce only in 2 turns, but I couldn't gain with it so much as I would lose on the long straights.

I didn't drive too much at Caesars, because I made the experiments with the game crashes. My first impression was good. Watching on video the AI look sometimes a little strange, but while driving it was fine. The only little critic is, that the BLAP time is maybe too low, so it is probably impossible to get a good starting position. Did you look, what laptime the AI can do regularly?

Yes I figured out why it was strange in my first video and I think I improved it some in the second. I use a spreadsheet to generate pass1 and pass2, and the formula is constantly under development. My new method is taking the difference of RACE and MINRACE (or MAXRACE for the right side) and dividing by 2 for PASS1 (or PASS2). Here the distance is exactly half way as you see (I drew it the best I could).

I have not really tuned the BLAP in because I haven't raced here yet in my 100% season. I did just reschedule Caesars in as the last race in my current 1999 season. Once I get there, I'm sure I'll make a few more changes. I am about half way done with this season so it may be a little while. I'm forgoing most of my driving and season to help with development of tracks now.

Oh wow, I thought I was slow because I drive with keyboard. Now I know it's just because of the lack of skill, haha! Very impressive lap time - I will see how I do with your setup!

I managed a 170.883 mph/39.840s on keyboard with Dennis's setup. That's probably 7 mph faster than my previous best! Did the CART cars really go 220 mph down the straightaways? That seems scary.

I always thought I heard that it was 215 on the straights and about 110 in the corners.... but sometimes I imagine things...

Here's a new version of Rio. What's new:

- Bridge over the back straightaway
- Bridge over T2 and after T4

Still on the graphics to-do list:

- Garage buildings
- Horizon
- Start/finish stand
- Skid marks

Edit: Removed attachment, refer to latest

"skid marks".... Not sure if I should be ashamed for being excited about that LOL.

Are these added with RACE.LP?

I wonder if you can borrow a sky with clouds from another track.

As far as I can tell, skid marks are a purely graphical feature and are drawn - painstakingly - one at a time. Unless Pavel has another approach to this! I skipped this step on Caesars because I thought it would take forever with minimal value to my learning.

Yeah, I could put in clouds - we'll see if they look okay with the chosen palette, otherwise it'll be clear skies.
