Transparent colors... - Erick Von Draxeler - 11-13-2025

Hi there...
I've been riding some ICR2 tracks (Windy/Second Wind) and found some weird "transparent" graphics... (or, at least, they SHOULD be transparent...)

What I mean? Look these ones...

How do I solve that? Or I won't?

These are not PMPs. Only PMPs have transparencies. These are MIPs.

Texture files in ICR2 do not support transparent colours, so when converting a track or object from a sim that does have those textures, we tend to replace the transparent colour with the sky colour (or something else that sort of blends in with the background).

Is there a way to make a MIP become a PMP?

No

MIP is a texture on a surface of a polygon. It has a direction- kind of like hanging a poster on a door. If you walk to the edge of the door- you can't see the poster from 90 degrees.

PMP is like the moon- no matter how the earth moves- we only see the same face.

The fix for this (if you want to) is to code things out of many poly's. SK did this with his Detroit downtown but it is not easy. This is something for an advanced track editor.

It may become possible in the future on the Rendition version, but it would mean re-texturing all the tracks. Here is some recent work that was done on this topic: https://www.icr2.net/forum/showthread.php?tid=1398&pid=15187#pid15187
