It looks great!

I saw your comment on one of my Assetto Corsa streams at Riverside. Let me know if I can take some screenshots of anything specific for you!

Surprised "borrowed" trees from Pavel's Laguna!!!

I have to make this one next... it will be tough.  (I know SK would use a million polygons for the bottom.)  Laugh2

Looking good. And yes, I would probably build the bottom part with polygons... I would do one side and then duplicate it for the four sides.

For the dirt on the side of the track, could you swap it out for a texture without grass? I don't think Riverside was usually that grassy.

Haha you're right! It seems strange to see grass - I was so sure that most photos I've seen of Riverside, and sim racing versions, has it looking like dirt or maybe dry grass.

Maybe we can check what season the IndyCar races were usually run. I believe Southern California looks more dry during the summer months.

When I first saw the riverside with grass it surprised me too- but the different races at different times seem to really change the appearance. I have been using 2 different Arial views mostly for referencing. One from 1978 which is quite clear but black/white. The other is color but blurry from 1985. (both on historic aerials website- just search "moreno valley mall")

I think they probably started taking care of the track less as it reached the later 80s. It was destroyed in 1989 and you can really see how rough the infield started looking in later pictures. It's not hard to change textures and things like this if we want to have a few different versions. I can keep the source 3D and all of that and include it all with the ZIP so it's easy to make a summer or spring version with different textures. Plus- there's always going to be someone who says "hey I would have done thing XX like way YY"- and they might want to change it.

Thanks for the nascar link- I have been using the 1982 CART video which is only 240P I believe. Sometimes seeing details can be tough. I probably spent an hour fingering through the video last night trying to see where all the tents were. I think I still need to put even more RVs, Campers, Trucks and Cars along the side (it's going to have a lot of those by the time I am done). I kind of picked the 1982 CART version to mostly replicate because it was the first race I watched when I was exposed to the track. Even know I only recently discovered this track by watching older CART seasons a few years ago (I mean, I was only 3 years old when this race happened) I sort of have a nostalgia for it now.

still needs textures - no need to get super detailed on the legs because most of it is hidden behind the grandstand Happy2
