RE: Riverside track project - Tony_D 26nz - 11-01-2024 Last night I downloaded the pre-season testing version for Riverside. It's looking good & great to drive. Here's some feedback/Q's:
p.s LOL I see the forum has now upgraded me from "junior member" to "member" after about forever. Celebration tonight

It's such a thrilling run, with the fast switchbacks and everything else. Yeah I love that part too especially braking for turn 6. I can't use the brakes fully and control the left right movement you need to enter the corner smoothly. I'd swear there is no way I could get slowed down quick enough in this tight an area for the T6 so it's such a rush. (11-01-2024, 01:36 PM)Tony_D 26nz Wrote: My best so far is 1:19.0. Are you using my setup? If not, have you adjusted wing any? I'm still trying to get the right setup to do my LP replays with. I do like the idea of putting tire marks in all of my tracks, and it's not hard in the sense that they are just TSDs, however generating the TSDs and keeping them on the racing line would kind of be much less work if we had a tool that would turn RACE.LP into a TSD text file. checkpoint10 and I were talking about this idea but it would be a great tool to have if you could generate TSDs from the LP. I know recent developments have enabled driving on hilly tracks without car-track show through. Am hoping, once the AI are done, this will be the case for Riverside too. I don't know if we have a fully working fix to make it so the cars won't show through the hills. Don't forget this SG file was really fully built by Pavel69 and I think mostly from a modified papyrus nascar version of the track, so I don't deserve any credit for the SG. I can only imagine how much time it would have taken to make this SG from scratch. I have new respect for those who do SG files for hilly road courses that accurately depict track geometry. This would provide a penalty for corner cutting I only have the wall on the left that is further away. There is just a lot of dirt on the left. I kind of want to keep it realistic like this. It's too late in the project to change track geometry now. RE: Riverside track project - checkpoint10 - 11-02-2024 I will dust off the tool I used to fix hills on Nashville and see if it works for Riverside. I believe I can make an update to my tool for the skid marks. The tool would read the LP file and lay down skid marks along the path, randomly to the left or right of the LP line. I will need it to calculate from the TRK file or maybe easier to have the user input a manual list of all the sections and where the asphalt boundaries are, so the skids don't go off track. Maybe we have some rules where you get more skids when the section is a curve or when there is rapid deceleration. The easy way to do this would be to use the change in velocity in the LP file. Delta V over 2 consecutive records. Also don't forget Coriolis will be higher in corners (where skid marks would maybe also be) RE: Riverside track project - Tony_D 26nz - 11-03-2024 Yes, I used your setup Samsepi. As I've done for other tracks of yours where you've got one. Your setups are great, much better than I can do. And it makes such a difference to speed and enjoyment with a good setup
RE: Riverside track project - samsepi0l - 11-21-2024 updated riverside -tested multiple times and should be full race OK with other cars -cams done -working, fun, smooth AI. They pass eachother excellently, and are very predictable by icr2 standards. -AI could be faster in some places (or I am just improving) I started last without qualifying and placed 6th at the end of a full 100% (65 lap) race. -I increased the RELS to 100 from 99 Not finished yet but FUN FUN FUN

If you download please post feedback so I can improve in the future RE: Riverside track project - OncleTom - 11-25-2024 (11-21-2024, 10:26 AM)samsepi0l Wrote: updated riverside Brilliant work! Looks great, races great, just a lot of enjoyment. Congratulations and many thanks to samsepi0l, Pavel and who else was involved in this project. If you get bored at times, on my wish list would still be new LP files for the GPL Mosport we've got and I discovered a newer and more accurate version of Road Atlanta on you tube, which maybe converted to ICR2. I'm asking for a lot....I know. But just an idea and a dream.
RE: Riverside track project - Tony_D 26nz - 11-26-2024 My feedback with AI, - AI go great. Only issue I saw is that I stopped at one point on one of the shorter straights and all the AI cars stopped behind me. Looks like something to adjust there. - Bit of car/track showthrough at the humps (just for split second) All up, it's looking great., thanks RE: Riverside track project - Pavel 69 - 11-26-2024 Fixing cars visible through hills/humps will be very last step when everything in 3do will be ready. It's just test version

It's just test version I can't think of anything else that I need to change in the main 3do, I don't know if we have a working script to go through the main 3do and fix this though. I know checkpoint10 had something for Nashville but I thought he mentioned it didn't work when tested on another track...? |
