Hello there,

I found out for my USAC 70s prioject how to get rid of the 80mph pit limit.
In these years there was no such thing.
And the solution is to put the 4th and 5th parameter in the pit line on "0".
It is very unrealistic looking cause all cars have their pit stop in the same place. The AI does the pitting without causing any damages or crashing. I think the only case of accidents will be when you try to enter the pits with some other AI cars already being there.
But all in all and the most important thing: you are not blackflagged when going through the pits faster than 80mph!
Hehe, nice. I wonder how you found that out, just playing with the values?
Yeah. I tried it with each pit value.

And something else: It is cool to play ICR2 with the orignal speeds of that era.
For example the pole speed of the 1971 Indy500 was 195mph. The 1977 Mosport race had a pole time of about 1m15s. The fastet pole speed was that in Texas World Speedway. It was 207mph.

And something else is possible to do. Put your turbo from "9" to "1"! And make a slow setup with high wings.
And enjoy!
Yeah I agree, that does add a lot to the feel.

If I remember correctly, we actually played around with slowing the car down like that for possible use during the 'Legends' based Winter Series in the IIRS. That was fun to do! But of course very hard to check for cheating, so in the end the director thought better of it and just used regular settings and speeds. Sure fun to play around with though.
Hello there,
I have changed all the track text files in this zip. The AI is slower than in the orignal version. So I recommend to use a new 70susac directory and also to use the old cockpit layout included in the zip (wasn't there a better one? Unfortunatly I don't have it.). In every of these files also the year of a really USAC race is saved.
Don't forget to check the version of the track... (ICR2/N99/N3/GPL)
I've done it for some time. And some infos I got from a book by Rick Shaffer.
It's called "CART - 1979-1998". I've not read it complete. But it's quite nice.

if you want to visit sites about CART or USAC I recommend besides the statistic sites (http://www.motorsport.com/stats/ or http://www.racing-reference.info/ ) also these here:
- This site is about really old cars from 1971-1979:
http://www.oldracingcars.com/indy/
- A site about older chassis manufacturers:

- For photos from 1984-2003:
http://mwphoto.smugmug.com/Cars/CART
- For gettin' a drawn pic of a track from top:

And guess what. There is alot of video stuff available on youtube.
Bye
Oli, thank you for the links.
