I know that people couldn’t run carshape kits on modern systems. But sometime ago I discovered nice solution. There is VDOS utility that allows you to run old 16-bit applications on modern PC. So I arranged this archive for CART carsets on my google drive archive.

How to install and use it:
If you have all carsets from my google drive in you ICR2/CARS folder then extract content of archive into ICR2/CARS folder. It should ask to overwrite some files and will add new files to carsets. Now inside carset folder you will find new bat files with ‘vdos’ word in the name. From that point you don’t need to run kits bat files inside of KITS folder. Run this new vdos bats and carsets kits should work.
Note for 2001 carset. There is no KITS folder in this carset. Instead you will find Kit.bat and Kit_2001_vdos.bat in carset folder. Run vdos bat to activate kit.

If you have only several carsets from my archive then you need:
1- extract content of kits_vdos.zip archive into temporary folder.
2- Copy vdos.exe, Icons.icl, config.txt from this folder to the ICR2/CARS folder
3- Copy corresponding kits folder from temporary folder to your ICR2/CARS folder. It will ask to overwrite some files, hit ‘OK’

I've tested this procedure on two PCs, seems like everything is ok.

(this archive is also in Cars (Indycar) folder here https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1...L-SQqVoAn7 )
I have just tried these VDOS bat files. They work great and make changing aero kits so ridiculously easy! Thank you!

After recent update to kits for 1998 - 2000 carsets please re-download VDOS_kits archive.
You can run 16 bit apps with otvdm. Once installed you can just double click 16 bit binaries and they'll run. I use it for installers for old games and it works fine. For installers, the apps that're installed don't register in add/remove progres (settings/apps. You just have to delete them.
Thanks for the tip, sharangad! It looks like otvdm is much better solution Smiley
I have just noticed an issue with the reyn1996 kits.

When you install the early-season sidepod winglets, they will still show the late-season version on the roadcar damage model.
Because I haven't done separate damaged versions of early-season sidepods? I thought it's not very needed... Smiley

Well, it is weird seeing the sidepods switch shape when the car gets slight front wing damage. As one says, once you see, it you can't unsee it. Laugh3
