Hi all,
Recent development of new tools, some discovering in trackmaking process inspired me to review some of my previous work for ICR2. Also I‘m currently using Windy version and that also forced me to fix problems with colors in some of my old tracks (because I didn’t have chance to test them in Windy before). So I’m slowly moving from item to item, fixing it and upload to my google disc. I gave link to Jake once so he can use fixed Michigan version for his 1989 season on Youtube. There were some questions in chat during his broadcast so I want to share it with you too.

On my google disc you can find various tracks and fixes for other Papy games too. But for ICR2 files go to ICR2 folder.

For all tracks I have:
-fixed double poly bug after conversion for track fences and lines
-fixed Windy colors
-fixed track menu screens for Windy.

Ovals
Also I’ve made some other fixes along the way. Like better powerline towers for Nazareth, better palette for California speedway. Some tracks like Nazareth have several graphical versions to choose from depending on year. Simply copy and paste needed dat file but remove year prefix at the end.

Road courses
I’m working on fixing bug when cars are visible through the road. Soon updated my versions of Laguna Seca, Mid Ohio and Elkhart Lake will be available. Currently there is only Cleveland track. From youtube videos I’ve noticed that my DOS horizons updates for some of the tracks are not used or were unnoticed. And because I want to see better sky in Windy too so I’ve optimized track palette to include this sky files for all platforms.

Cars
With new tools available I was inspired to review Reynard ’99 carshape and all it ‘childs, fixing all remaining bugs in damaged model. I once tried to fix this carshapes but only work on main car 3do and didn’t touch all car details.
So this time I’ve started with ‘parent’ 99 carshape, converted all parts to 3d, fixed small things here and there and then created new 3do files. That way I’ve reworked Reynard ’99 ‘child’ carshapes: 2001, 1997-98, 1996. Oliver Karaula made many crashapes for various years based on Reynard ’99. So now I moving down the roster and fixing them. Currently I’m working on 1995 carshape.

Unlike before I decided to upload complete carsets and not just 3do files. I keep all original authors readme and other info files inside. I only renamed some carsets except for 2001. All carsets have working kit so you can configure some details.

Main features:
-reworked 3do file, I hope I’ve fixed almost all graphic problems
-working damaged model
-I’ve added low level details to tire models. With 30 cars on the grid game need to draw 120 high detailed tires 3do. So I’ve add distance switch to tires 3do with simplified models. Also I’ve also added low level model to 3d helmet. Hope this improves FPS alittle.
- Also I’ve placed distance switch to main car 3do to turn off small details from far distance (car antenna, mirrors details, cockpit mapping).

What can be improved:
-1999 and 2000 carsets use 2d helmet. It will be good to have 3d helmets
-I didn’t touch car textures. Front edge of front wings was straight on cars before 1999. I’ve made correct wings and changed mapping. But car template still represents angled wings from 1999. So if anyone wants to fix it then I’ll be thankful.

Thanks for reading all this!  Operator
I will continue to upload files. If you will find any bugs please report.
Wow, thank you! Really appreciate the big effort it must've taken to make those updates.

Using distance switch is a great idea to increase FPS.

@Tjerk/Pavel - Can we put links to this post or the files on Pavel's Google Drive to the archives? My main worry is that this forum thread will be buried in a few months, but we should make it easy for people to find the updated carsets and tracks.
Pavel- thank you so much.... All you did was update graphics right? so the TRK file and hence LPs will remain unchanged right? (This way I can continue with my modified LPs, since I almost always make my own)
Yes, just graphics was updated :0

ohhhh, I will be using that meadowlands track for my 85 season!

Do you think you might want to use checkpoint10's program to generate tire-skid marks on your Cleveland?
If one day I will find way to use race .LP for creating skid- marks groove then I will update Cleveland. But manually form groove on such wide track is not easy.
Hi Pavel
I just downloaded your latest Tracks update and installed Laguna 96. It is fantastic. And, as you say, the car showthrough issue is fixed. This is really terrific.

Thanks, TD
I haven't posted any updates here for a long time.

Update 17.01.2023:
I've add bat files into some oval archives to quickly switch between versions.
Motegi - optimized palette, fixed some objects and double-poly bug
Laguna versions - optimized palette for Windy, but still there is no place for dark asphalt texture. So there are 'dos' and 'win' versions. Dos version works only with dos game, Win version works with dos and windy game.
Cleveland - optimized palette for Windy.
Elkhart Lake - optimized palette for Windy, also made some adjustments to grass/trees green colors, improved corner distance marks. As with Laguna there are 'dos' and 'win' versions but difference is not so big. Win version uses less colors than dos version for horizon texture. Also dos version includes dat files with older green colors palette in case anyone prefer them.
Miami95 - optimized palette for Windy, updated track objects. Miami was one of my first tracks and it had some simple objects. Seeing how great are WIP versions of Denver and Detroit I decided to improve few things in Miami. I've added textures to all buildings, remade highway bridges and metro rail line, replaced some objects and added turn distance signs in few places.

Cars:
I continue my work with fixing all carshapes. Now I have lola 1990-1992, lola 1993, lola 1994-1995 ready. But I uploaded only 1993-1995 carsets, otheres will coming soon.
Also I made minor fixes in previous carsets.
It's nice to see you keeping with the game over the years!

Speaking on behalf of Checkpoint10- it means a lot to both of us that you think our work at Denver/Detroit is great!

do you think you could look at the carshape in one of my reynard carsets? There is a problem where the drawing order gets messed up when there is a damage event. It must be the 3do files right?
