Since there appears to be no forthcoming Rendition emulator/wrapper, I'm considering buying an actual Rendition card because I really want to see what it's like and eventually would like to make some Rendition-compatible tracks.
I have only been able to find V2x00 cards on eBay, but I have not seen a V1000 card in the past year.
This thread suggests there is a patch that would allow the V2x00 chipset to work but I am guessing that the game was designed for V1000. Does anyone know if the game could be made to be fully compatible with V2x00? If not, I was thinking I would wait until I find a V1000.
If I remember correctly I had a V2x00 myself and that worked perfectly with ICR2 (and GPL as well). You can still find the patch on this
Sierra download page (the last entry there) so that should not hold you back.
I am not sure what the differences between the cards are, but I can imagine V2000 being faster and having more memory? If that is the case, I would in fact actively go for the later cards and patch your game to support them. The rendition version has strict enough limits as it is...
On our Dutch version of eBay there is not a single Rendition card to be found and there are only a few listed on eBay I see. Quite expensive as well. Makes me wish I had held onto my own card back in the day.

Sorry
Did I give it to you? I honestly can not remember and thought I probably put it in the trash at some point
Thanks Tjerk, I see a few V2x00 cards out there for more than US $100 which seems too much. Hopefully will see a better deal one of these days.
Great! But it's intresting to see how normal tracks look in rendition game. Because those four special rendition tracks for sure will look different.

Any fix for this? He’s using a Rendition V2x00 card which requires patching to work with ICR2.
The only fix I know is to simply turn off anti-aliasing. You either don't run the v2x00 patch, and have a messed up cockpit and nice looking AA, or run the patch and turn off AA to get rid of the weird lines that show up with the patch.

If you turn off anti-aliasing (and how do you do that?) then is there much difference left between software mode and Rendition mode?
