In 2012 we started with a hotlap competition. This competition is all about bragging rights, but more importantly it gives you an idea where you stand among the ICR2 fastest drivers.
Overview:
As this is a hotlap competition there is no need for specific carsets, drivers2.txts or settings. You can use whatever modification to the game you want, as long as your .exe file remains unchanged and you use the correct track. The intention is to practice at tracks, compare laptimes and learn. Learn why someone is faster, understand why you are faster and improve.
Racing:
You can run any amount of laps you want. For each track a due date is given, but this is merely an indication to have you focus at one track at a time. You can send in results for any track at any time, but results for a track will only be posted after the due date. You can always come back to a track and try to better your time. The final due date is December 1st. In some cases we will run a hotlap event at the same time as an Endurance event at a track. You will need to use the proper settings in case your lap was set during the Endurance event, but during practice anything is allowed. This is the only case the 'anything goes' rule does not apply.
Scoring:
As we will run Hotlap competition on some Endurance sanctioned races as well, qualifying, fastest laps and hotlap times will count.
Scoring will be done by ranking the times. Each event will be standalone. There will be no pointcount. At the end of the season we will check which driver has won the most events. It is possible that more than one driver will be declared the winner at an event. The same is possible when more than drivers wins the same amount of events.
As in IIRS we will score based on your results send to us as text. Because of the necessity to check in case of records you are asked to create replays of your fastest laps. These will be requested by the Director and used for verifying results. In IIRS we request one driver to send in each week. We will ask more drivers for the Hotlap Competition. When your lap is faster than the current number one, please send your replay with your textresult. A maximum of 5 drivers will be displayed in the results per event.
Penalties:
In case a driver is found to have cheated for one Hotlap event, his time will be removed from the scores. He will also be asked to hand over the replays for all events he previously participated. Not handing over replays will result in removal of all laptimes.
If you have cheated a second time all your results will be removed and no new results will be accepted for the season.
